Good Guys is an in-world kid’s brand from the horror film classic Child’s Play or better known as Chucky. Launched at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con with a signing from the original creators this exclusive consumables line has been an instant success for FYE.
Being a horror film fan this was a dream project to design. I designed packaging for three products Good Guys Cereal, Goodies Cereal Snack Clusters and Battery Boost Energy Drink. Keeping the designs immersive for fans I illustrated the packaging to be true to the in-world branding while also adding sinister notes from the film, like the spoon handle on the cereal box cover. Designed to resemble the knife carried by the killer doll. I carried these darker themes into the back content of the cereal box. Developing two options for cereal box activities. The first activity being a voodoo play set based on the movies in-world ritual the killer doll attempts to perform. The second activity, is a maze in the shape of a voodoo doll that hits key movie plot scenes pinned in as you try to exit. These designs added true interactive qualities to this horror collectible.
In addition to the cereal design, FYE developed Goodies Cereal Cluster Snacks. This gave fans a more casual opportunity to have a pieces of the Good Guys brand. Completing the collection is the Good Guys Battery Boost Energy Drink. Themed around the in-world batteries that power the Chucky doll this was a great way to continue the branding for Good Guys and complete the immersive experience for fans.
Bad Rabbit is a cigar & smoke shop brand. Designed for an older demographic that connects with Americana. The illustration is inspired by early cartoons and hot rod cars. The initial design sketches quickly led me to this solution of the Bad Rabbit with shades, cigar and engaging facial expression. Pairing it with a heavy san serif typeface accomplished the goal of a bold design that gives it a feel of nostalgia that works in a digital space.
Gannett & Reid Renovations is designed for a local start up business catering to residential construction and renovation. Focused on communities in upstate New York the company was looking for a way to elevate the brand beyond word of mouth and a reputation for quality.
Creating this logo the concepts of functionality, structure and form were most important. Considering the very nature of G&R’s work I set out to build the logo. The framed border was designed to reference form and perspective of a building. The rising angles of the initials that follow the structure of the border create further framing and strengthen the initials. While the full name finishes the functional form of the logo.
Hoop History is a basketball blog that brings basketball fans facts, stats and in depth stories from current to classic players and games.
Designing this logo challenged me to consider the scale it would be seen in social media profiles as well as on a website. Communicating the blog and it’s content clearly and quickly was a key focus in the design. Utilizing the letter H provided a strong structure to work from. Using geometric shapes I was able to simplify the imagery to the most important aspects.
Bob Ross cereal box packaging design and media campaign started with the FYE team forming a partnership with the Bob Ross Estate. Bob Ross being rediscovered by nostalgic and new fans alike through Netflix offered our team a unique opportunity to tap into the creative and positive world of Bob Ross.
Developing an exclusive collection for the FYE brand, the team focused on Bob Ross’s signature landscape paintings and quotes of positivity. I had the challenge of designing our focal piece of the collection, “Bob Ross, The Joy of Cereal”. Developing the cereal box was a fun exploration of themes from creativity and positivity to humor. I paired classic imagery of Bob Ross and his paintings with hand drawing elements on the back of the box. Illustrating his iconic clear painters palette and featuring quotes of motivation and positivity. The final design delivers a funny unique cereal for fans.
In coordination with designing the cereal packaging, I designed the FYE media for the Bob Ross collection launch. This included store front window signs, email, website graphics and social media posts. The success of this collection helped strengthen FYE partnerships. It opened new opportunities in expanding the business and developing exclusive licensed product.
This video game profile icon is based on the players gaming name tag “PUGGS”. The name comes from their childhood nickname giving by a sibling for their chubby cheeks like a pug dog. Carried over to gaming they use it for competition and streaming. The illustration holds an intensity and concentration within the pose and face. Giving it both humor and a serious quality the gamer presents while playing.
